Do you want to be a Kite Junkie
You see a lot of people enter the KiteSurfing arena. Sadly enough many exit shortly thereafter.
Watching those with experience makes the sport look so easy, you know, like watching a Pro play a guitar.
Man, looks can be so deceiving can't they.
Time after time you see people try a kite for the first time and within seconds the kite slams into the ground.
So predictable are the newbies that you need to be sure to only allow them to use a small kite,
a very small kite the first time out.
For some strange reason it feels so natural for newbies to steer the kite like you are driving a car.
Sorry, it ain't no car, its more of a push pull than a rotation.
Don't give up! Just like the guitar, with a little practice you'll be flying in no time but like the guitar you'll need a lot of practice to get it down.
One word of warning, once you get the feel of the kite you'll be hooked. Welcome to the addiction.
Yes, it's like a drug but it will become the most healthy adiction you'll ever see.
Common traits of a Kite Junkie
When Sean and Stephany were married it was quite obvious the addiction mentioned above was alive and well.
There was no way Sean was to be roped into marriage without a 15 mph wind clause as part of the wedding vows.
Sure enough on their wedding day Sean insisted that Stephany mention (over a load speaker system I might add) that it was perfectly
ok to drop everything once the wind hit 15 mph. If you don't believe me just drive by Seans house any day and you'll see him
outside with a wind meter in hand. Ah yes, life is good for a Kite Junkie.
What is kitesurfing?
Riding a board, flying a big ole kite.
Going Back and Forth, Up and Down
in ocean waves or mirror flat ponds
I am lifted, mind and body, by the wind.
The only limits are the shoreline,
my knowledge of the equipment,
along with my imagination, skill,
and courage.
When I first started
I was literally going wherever the wind took
me. As I learned more about it I made the
wind take me where I wanted.
I hook in and harness natures power.
Controlling the uncontrollable.
Whether I really am or not,
its exhilarating either way.
Kitesurfing is a problem eraser.
A washing machine for the brain.
Escape from whatever is bothering me.
Its freedom, and its a gift.

Words alone cannot express the exhilarating serenity captured in some pictures

I dont know where it was taken, but I was instantly there.
I felt the warmth of the sun.
I felt the spray of water as I glided across it with ease.
I felt the pull of the kite carrying me away.
I felt the birds call. Kakawl. Kakakawl.
Come fly. Come be free.
