Nabil . . .

Storm Chaser by Mike C
It was almost sunny where he was, when he started, and the "wall" was behind him. It almost looked like it could slide past going north east past us at first. Apparently the storm was hungry and it saw something to eat in the middle of the lake.

I got there around 4pm, and only got to ride a half hour or so. I came in because I was afeared of the lightning that was increasing in occurrence and decreasing in proximity. Nabil just finished setting up when I landed, so he asked for a launch. In the back of my mind, I thought "I shouldn't be doing this" but I knew he was perfectly capable of launching himself so I went ahead and helped him launch. As he headed out, I said "don't be giving us no real men of genius moments" then I went to the parking lot to get my video camera. Unfortunately, I didn't get very good footage. I had shut the camera off to dry rain drops off the lens when Matt G said: "you might want to record this"

By the time I got the camera on again the rain was so hard I couldn't even tell what I was looking at. I couldn't find Nabil or the kite through the screen of the camera. I shut the camera off, saw the kite go down. It was blowing and raining so hard that I could hardly even see the edge of the lake from the shelter at kitepoint. When it let up, we could see the kite in the middle of the lake, but we couldn't see Nabil. Some of you may have noticed I tend to wear red, orange, green, and yellow a lot when I kiteboard. I recommend it. Black does not show up well.

Here's what little footage I got, but all you can see at the end are the sheets of rain blowing past. KiteBoarding Storm Trooper
